Getting Started

Hi, I'm Lyle, and I'm going on an adventure! Join me!

Lots of my gaming friends have played most or all of the Final Fantasy games. I haven't, and I want to. That's the adventure!

Before we go, you should know where I'm starting from, so that my perspective has context.

I have some experice with video games. Less than most people that consider themselves "gamers" and more than most who don't. I've been gaming off and on since I was a child, but more-or-less casually up until about 4-5 years ago. I've know about Final Fantasy since Highschool, but never got into any of the games. I think I watched one or more of the animated movies when they were newish, but nothing significant sticks with me about them.

I've played a few JRPG's of various ages, some old and some new, but not many of the Final Fantasy ones.

So, here are the ones I've played. I'll be posting longer form thoughts about them later.

  • FFIV Advanced
  • FFV (Multiple versions)
  • FFXIV

Check out my Status Page to see where I'm at with this adventure. That page should list what games I've completed with links to the write ups, as well as what order I expect to play them in, and on what system.

Check out my Plan of Attack to see how I plan on approaching my write ups, and the structure this site will take.

A few more things before we begin.

  • This is largely about fun. If I'm not enjoying a game, I'm not finishing it. I don't have enough time in my life to play things "because I started them"
  • I'm going to start out each game without reading any guides, and play that way as long as I can. But I'm not going to be hardcore about it. If I'm stuck, or I don't understand how to proceed, Im looking it up.
  • I don't have or invest a huge amount of my time into gaming, so this is going to take a while.
  • I'm turning on comments for this site, which is new for me. Feel free to share some of your own experinces with games as I write about them.

With that being said, buckle up, Warriors of Light, and lets go.
